The senior member of “Napulantica”. A poet and
speaker, Vincenzo has the skill to combine his vernacular poetry with
those unforgettable melodies that emanate from the strings of his
mandolin. Due to his deep knowledge of the artistic and cultural
traditions of a bygone Naples, Napulantica’s concerts are able to bring
back to life the magic of the classical Neapolitan melody and song. |

Michele
Barbarulo
Flute
The youngest, and one of the latest members, of “Napulantica”.
His virtuosity and musical sensitivity has ensured a rapid rise to a
role of importance within the Ensemble. The rapidity with which Michele
has absorbed, and is now able to interpret, the essential
characteristics of classical Neapolitan melody and song has added yet
one more dimension to Napulantica’s repertory and concerts. |

Loredana Casella -
Vocals
Loredana is a singer of rare technical and
interpretive talent, who having chosen to dedicate her life to music,
notwithstanding her tender age, has already acquired an impressive
professional curriculum. The multi-faceted aspects to her vocal skills,
and her experience in the fields of jazz and “ethno-music”, gives her an
ability to give a unique interpretation and rendition of classical
Neapolitan melody and song. |

Fernando Galano
Vocals and guitar
The leader of Napulantica inasmuch as he has
always been the driving force behind the Ensemble’s creation and
development, from its early days as a simple cultural association.
Fernando has also the ability to reawaken the interest of both
connoisseurs and fans of classical Neapolitan melody and song. His
interpretative vocal skill - either as soloist, or together/in
“controcanto” with Loredana – displays all the passion an emotions that
inspired the original Neapolitan writers of such unforgettable songs and
melodies.

Elio Greco
Percussion
and guitar
Versatile and expert, Elio’s rhythmic base is the
reference point for all. Dexterously alternating the guitar in slower
melodies, with the vibrant rhythms of the tambourine (“tammorra” and “tamburello”),
castanets, in more upbeat melodies, his presence is fundamental to the
musical organisation of Napulantica whilst in play. His extensive
experience, acquired through membership of a variety of blues, jazz, and
light music groups, demonstrates itself in his technical precision and
his rendition of classical Neapolitan melody and song. This musical
ability, when added to his delightful personality, has ensured that Elio
has quickly become an indispensable member of the Ensemble.

Matteo Masullo
Violin and mandolin
A “virtuoso” of the violin and mandolin, Matteo
is graced with not just an innate musical talent but also with real
technical ability. Multi-faceted skills acquired through years of
musical performance, linked to a deep knowledge of Neapolitan music, has
ensured Matteo’s rapid sure rise to a role of importance in the
Ensemble. His inimical talents have also brought a greater sense of
musical “togetherness” to Napulantica, bringing yet more enjoyment to
all those “appassionati” of the melodies and song of a bygone Naples! |

Franco
Tripodi -
Guitar
A musician gifted with enormous musical
sensitivity, Franco has the ability to integrate the cords of his guitar
with the mandolin and flute in a rare elegance. While he actively works
together with the Ensemble on the arrangement and performance of
melodies, his personal ability to maintain the rigour of original
composition brings a singular character and personality to the rendition
of classical Neapolitan melody and song. After a wide and varied musical
career as a classical guitarist, he has quickly taken to Napulantica’s
distinctive style, becoming a fundamental component of the expanding
Ensemble. |
